KOLHAPUR: Six major educational publishers in Maharashtra would felicitate in January 2005 the former economics professor Kantilal Haridas Thakkar for writing a record number of academic books on economics in Marathi.
Thakkar, who has recently written 125th book on the subject, would be felicitated in Kolhapur for his contribution in the field of economic publications, publisher Anil Mehta of Mehta Book Sellers said.

"Thakkar''s 17 more books would be published next year," Mehta, who is the convenor of the six publishers, said.
The other five publishers include Jamnadas and Company, Mumbai, Vidya Prakashan, Suvichar Prakashan, Pragati-Nirali and Phadke publishers.
Meanwhile, Thakkar said that nine universities in the state and 4,000 higher secondary schools have included his books on Economics in their curriculum.
Mehta also said they were trying for a world record as Limca Book of Records 2004 and Guiness Book of World Records 2005 have no entry for writing 125 textbooks on economics in any language.
