DEHRADUN: Lt. General (retd) MC Badhani, stepped down as chairman of the State Disaster Advisory Committee (SDAC) on Saturday. The resignation comes a day after he was unceremoniously dismissed as chairman of Uttarakhand Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL), allegedly at the behest of state agriculture minister
Harak Singh Rawat, whose ministry holds jurisdiction over the UPNL.
Talking to TOI, Gen Badhani said he quit as SDAC chairman to protest his "illegal and illogical" dismissal from UPNL.
"Top functionaries in the agriculture department, including agriculture minister Harak Singh Rawat, did not bother to offer me any reasons for the sacking," he said, adding he felt humiliated.
Badhnai said his dismissal came after he raised the issue of massive irregularities in recruitment to different posts in the UPNL. "As I was bent upon raising these corruption-related issues, I was targeted", he said.
Badhani said he had sent his resignation letter to CM Harish Rawat, who has yet to accept it.
