GUNTUR: Senior Congress leader and deputy chairman of the AP legislative council Mohammed Jani is hopeful of getting another term as his term is coming to an end shortly. Jani is one of the seven members retiring from the House.
With the Election Commission issuing notification for the biennial elections from the legislators quota, political circles are agog over the finalisation of the candidates.

The followers are confident of their leader getting renomination as he is the only noticeable minority voice heard in the ruling party.
A two-time legislator Jani was denied ticket in the 2004 elections following the objections raised by local MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao. Considered to be close to then chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Jani was later made an MLC and named as the deputy chairman of the legislative council, which is a cabinet rank post.
