Mukhtar Ansari's residence raided
Police raided the residence of the independent legislator Mukhtar Ansari, an accused in the killing of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.
GHAZIPUR: Police on Saturday raided the residence of the Independent legislator from the neighbouring Mau Assembly constituency Mukhtar Ansari, an accused in the killing of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.
Raids were conducted at the two residences of Ansari in Mohammadabad in this district, sources said.
Ansari is currently lodged in the district jail in connection with the recent communal violence in Mau.
The legislator is one of the ten accused in the Rai murder case. His elder brother and Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha member Afzal Ansari and his brother-in-law Ejaz Ahmed are also accused in the case and are in jail.
