The Mumbai crime branch probing the TRP manipulation racket on Wednesday recorded the statement of a senior editorial staffer of Republic TV. Police recorded the statement of Republic’s Mumbai-based executive editor Niranjan Narayanswamy and have asked him to report again on Thursday along with senior executive editor
Abhishek Kapoor.
They are to be questioned regarding the telecast of some documents (purportedly the FIR copy) on October 10, police said.
The FIR in the case was registered on a complaint by Hansa Research. Sources said Narayanswamy refused to divulge any information as to how the channel got access to the copy of the FIR.
Meanwhile, police have written to chief financial officers of ARG Outlier Media Pvt Ltd and SARG Global Digital Pvt Ltd, firms associated with Republic TV, and asked them to submit documents on expenses made in foreign currency, break-up and invoices raised for related party transactions in terms of royalty, news, advertising and other reimbursements.
