: North Goa collectorNilaMohanan
has sought a report from North Goa SPPriyankaKashyap
following an application filed by Sri Ram Sena
chief PramodMuthalik
seeking permission to visit Goa in February. Speaking to TOI, Mohanan said that Muthalik’s application would be heard on Saturday. Muthalik has sought permission to enter the state for a 10-day visit in February, his lawyer Nagesh Takbhate said in a letter addressed to the magistrates of Goa's two districts.
The letter stated that the Muthalik wants to visit temples and ashrams in Goa for religious purposes. “He is ready to abide by any additional conditions as may be stipulated,” the letter stated.
The letter also stated that the denial of his right to visit Goa for the specific purpose which is not in conflict with the power of the state authorities would be a breach of Muthalik’s fundamental right. The letter, addressed to the district magistrates, stated that Muthalik would inform the local police station about his residential address at all times and would not address any public gathering or attend public functions.
The Goa government recently imposed a 60-day ban on Muthalik preventing him from entering the state. The Ram Sena has achieved notoriety for the 2009 Mangalore pub attack where party workers brutally assaulted some youth, including women.
