Farm laws repeal: Agitation will continue, says Rakesh Tikait

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement repealing three farm laws, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Friday said the farmers' agitation has not ended. "Agitation isn't ending. Who told you that the agitation is ending? It'll continue," said Tikait.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to repeal the three Central farm laws."I thank him and welcome this step taken by him. Though a large section of people believed that such laws can play an essential role to increase the income of farmers. When farmer organisations opposed it, the government attempted to establish a dialogue on all levels," the chief minister said.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra on Friday welcomed the Centre's decision to repeal three controversial farm laws, but said the ruling BJP cannot be trusted till it actually withdraws these legislations in the upcoming session of Parliament. She recalled how BJP ministers would defend the same laws when the TMC demanded their withdrawal.
