ATTARI: Authorities have beefed up security around the recently-inaugurated integrated check post along the India-Pakistan border at Attari following reports that the Taliban were planning to blow it up to derail the peace process.
BSF inspector general (frontier) Aditya Mishra said they had received intelligence inputs in this regard and that heavy security build up, including deployment of Pakistan Ranger’s anti-terrorist wing, on the other side had also prompted the move.
"The unusual build up across the border by Pak Rangers, presence of commandos of anti-terrorist wing, and armored vehicle on May 11 had raised alarm.’’ He said the BSF was fully prepared and activated its bunkers and other defense units to deal with the threat.
