The issue of hair fall has literally become so common in today’s fast-paced world that people have started to adapt to it. However, times are soon going to change, as a team of scientists has developed a daily scalp hair growth serum made from a tropical plant-based extract which proved to regrow hair and improve thickness quality in just 56 days.

Researchers in Taipei tested this on 60 adults, who used one millilitre every night for eight weeks and tracked the changes over time. Initially, results showed a 25 per cent increase in hair thickness compared to the placebo group in just 2 months.

This serum consisted of mild caffeine and panthenol, which is a moisturiser present in many shampoos. The formula also added extracellular vesicles—tiny packets released by cells carried from the plant species Centella Asiatica, or Brahmi. This combination included fibroblast growth factor 7, a protein cue that supports hair-producing skin cells.

These choices were not random; biology links these elements, which signal hair cycling and deliver effectiveness. The study involved healthy adults with clean pattern hair loss and lasted only eight weeks. Volunteers aged from 18 to 60 were randomly assigned to five groups, including a placebo. Technicians measured the density, thickness, and length on days 14, 28, 42, and 56 using standardised tools.
The four active arms were a simple base, a base plus growth factors, a base plus plant vesicles, and a full combination, which stacked ingredients blended accordingly. Results improved as more components were combined with the full formula. Lastly, hair density rose by almost 25 per cent in the combination group compared to the smaller shifts.
Larger trials will soon enrol more individuals with pattern hair loss, covering scalp irritation, unwanted shedding at the start of treatment, and other potential risks. If this plant hair growth serum drives positive results, then the batch size and variability will also be increased accordingly.
