Are you suddenly feeling drawn towards that flashy red shade of lipstick or nail enamel? Well, it’s probably because you’re feeling sexy!
A recent study conducted by an international cosmetic brand says that emotions majorly rule women’s choice of colour in makeup.
The research indicates that women opt for lip, eye or nail shades depending on their state of mind.According to the people who have launched the brand on the basis of an online research, women are drawn to a particular shade of cosmetic on a particular day. Red generally indicates that one is feeling hot and sexy, pink can mean that you’re in a flirty mood while green indicates that your state of mind is very regular.
Psychologist Himani Chaphekar affirms that emotions are connected to our beauty choices. She says, “Colour is known to have a profound effect on our mood and emotions. While some shades are depressing, others are uplifting. Why only makeup, our state of mind plays an important role in our choice of food as well as dressing. Like you tend to binge on your low days or dress smartly when you feel confident.”
Aarti Biswas, a colour therapist points out another aspect. “Colours can be used in your dress, home and work environment and in your diet for therapeutic reasons. Every colour has a certain property and reflects a certain emotion. Colour therapy advocates the use of colours to achieve harmony between the body, mind and spirit.” Model Shamita Singha says, “I have observed that when you have a hangover, you opt for grey or black shades for your eye makeup so as to cover dark circles. So I guess our choice of colours is related to our psyche.” Actor Shweta Salve says, “If I’m feeling pepped up, I tend to experiment with bright or fun colours and if I am attending a formal event I choose neutral shades.”
