While the brouhaha continues over slots for Delhi’s couture week, Manish Malhotra is getting ready to become part of another fashion extravaganza in the city. Known for his elaborate ensembles and elite front row guests, Malhotra may bring all that to Delhi soon, as he prepares for the upcoming menswear week.
We’d heard that the Mumbai-based designer was coming to Delhi for the couture week, but when we met him at a party this week, Manish surprised us, as he confirmed his participation for the menswear week in August instead.
He said, “I am coming to Delhi for the menswear week. It’s the first time I’m doing a complete Indian menswear collection and I’m excited about it.” He further added that the collection would focus on Indianwear for men. So, would there also be a burgeoning front row with Bollywood stars, which is typical of a Manish Malhotra show? “Can’t say yet,” is just what Manish said.
Be that the case, Manish will showcase his collection along with 14 other designers at the extravaganza, which is expected to take place between August 25-28. But while Manish gets ready to work on his collection, news of his participation is expected to add strength to FDCI’s claim of breaking the Delhi-Mumbai divide in the fashion industry.
