We often think that we are eating healthy and nutritious foods. But still we feel low on energy, lethargic, and lacking motivation and even after being alert and attentive we fail to focus and concentreate. According to Sadhguru, it happens because of eating the wrong food, wrong timing, and wrong technique. In a recent Instgram reel video, he explained the yogic perspective on foods that are not supportive for focus and concentration and can cause ill health. Scroll down to read the details.
What did Sadhguru say?
In the reel, Sadhguru said, "If you generate gases below the navel, it is because when you eat too much of tuberous material like potatoes and other tuberous substances, and they generate gas, below the navel. Once you generate gas there, your prana between the navel and the pit of the throat will not function as it should and the dynamic… dynamism levels in your system will go down. This is one reason those who wish to meditate, those who are students and those who need to focus their mind and stay awake for long periods of time, they should not eat those substances." The only root vegetables that are good to be consumed regularly are carrot and radish, adds Sadhguru.
What are tuberous foods
According to medical science, tuberous foods are those edible plants that naturally store nutrients underground in enlarged roots, tubers, corms, or rhizomes. It is proven that these structures act as energy reserves for the plant and are often rich in carbohydrates, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. The most common tuberous foods include potato, sweet potaot, yam, cassava, turnip and parsnip. They are popular because they are filling, affordable, and versatile. They can be boiled, roasted, mashed, fried, or incorporated into a wide variety of dishes.
