Author Paro Anand spills some beans on how she starts her day...
My day starts with my dogs. Nadia gives me a big, wet kiss while Gia waits her turn. The first 10 minutes of every morning are spent receiving unconditional love – a blissful start. These dogs were abused, abandoned, rescued, restored and then gifted to us by our friend, Shreela. So I always thank her every morning for this blessing.

When I step out into my garden, I look up at the sun and seek the day’s blessings for all my loved ones, especially those having a hard time, for whatever reason. It puts my day into perspective. And then I make a list of things to do. If I don't make this list, I start multiplying my work in my mind until it grows into an insurmountable pile. So I try and break my day into bite-sized pieces.
Wake up and steal some time for yourself in the morning hour. Put a fitness tracker on your phone and start with small goals. Reward yourself for every small milestone achieved to make your mornings better.
And I end each day, thanking the setting sun for the day and thinking of five things that I am grateful for that happened. It re-centres me, puts me in a positive frame of mind.
