My COVID Story: A positive mind is extremely important in COVID recovery
34 years old Archana Ramasubramanian decided to move in with her mother along with her son since work and classes were online but was taken by a rude shock when all of them (including her son) tested positive. Here’s her story
From the past few months, I’ve been living with my mom (65 years old) and my son (5 years). Since my mom live alone, I decided to spend a few months with her as work/school is digital now.
One evening I causally touched my mother’s hands and felt she was warmer than usual, and asked if she’s feeling any chills.

Immediately I checked her temperature which was 101.5. She was in denial but agreed that a mercury thermometer won’t lie.
We got her rapid test next morning and it came out negative; we also gave RT PCR and the same evening she developed sneeze and cough. I was waiting for the reports and to my shock my mom and me were positive. I didn’t even have any symptoms till then but started developing high fever of upto 102 a day later. We started the basic medication and a day later my son started having fever and cough.
With all three falling sick, and no one to help around, it was a very tough time to even imagine anything at that point for me.
We managed to get medication from our family doctor and medicines from store nearby, I monitored every two hours with readings of spo2 and temperature.
Luckily since my mom had taken her 1st shot of vaccine 30 days before, her severity was less however my fever didn’t fade till day 4 and by that time it was emotionally draining to see both son and mom suffer. There was a point that inspite of keeping myself away from negative news and focus only on present with positive vibes, I lost it and fear within me resulted in high fever.

That was the peak time where there were no beds available in hospitals, scarcity of N95 masks/ medicines. It was crazy out there!
I calmed myself with meditation and it helped reduce my anxiety. The next day blood reports were better than before. I continued yoga and meditation for few days and hit road to recovery.
Lesson: never have fear or anxiety since that’s more dangerous than virus itself. Positive mind can heal your body faster. Be alert but don’t be alarmed.
