Kruti Jhala and most of her family caught COVID. She lost her uncle to COVID, which affected her so badly that her infection turned severe from mild. Here's her COVID story...My COVID story isn't exactly happy, but I am thankful that I have recovered now and I am doing well now.
I am Kruti and I am of 21 years. I stay in a joint family with my father and my uncle's family together.
On April 11, my uncle tested positive and within a few days, almost all of my family was positive. Except my mom and my sis, me, my father, my cousin, my aunt and my uncle, we 5 were positive. We all stayed quarantined together in the upper part of our house. My mom and my sis used to give us all our necessities. Except my uncle who had more infections, we all had a mild infection.
Originally I had mild infection, but when after being hospitalized, my uncle of age 55 passed away on April 22, I couldn't take the shock. My oxygen levels dropped to 90 and my infection increased. It was increased to the level that I had to be hospitalized on April 24. While also fighting with anxiety and depression due to the shock, I was hospitalized for the first time in my life of 21 years. I was given an oxygen mask for 4 days. After being given shots of Remdesivir injection, I gradually recovered. I was discharged on May 2. Now my oxygen levels are fine and I am recovering well, except for some weakness and shoulder pain. As my infection was severe, it will take time for me to heal completely.
What I want to convey through my story is first, I am thankful to GOD that in this second phase where people suffered from a lack of hospital beds and oxygen, I and even my uncle both were lucky enough to have a hospital bed and oxygen mask facilities. I was even lucky to be able to get remdesivir injection in this difficult time.
Secondly, during my experience in hospital, I found out that hospital doctors and hospital workers are angels. LITERALLY ANGELS. They cure patients without being afraid that the virus might also infect them. They cared for patients day and night without rest.
Thirdly, while being COVID positive, it is really important to have a healthy mind and being positive. My situation wasn't exactly where I could stay positive, but because I couldn't, my health which was fine took a toll. Till date I feel like crying as I miss my uncle a lot, but I can't afford my health to go bad again. I believe my uncle is in a good place and is happy wherever he is and will always watch over us.
COVID-19 really shaked up the lives of all of my family by taking our uncle away at such a young age, and so I would like to tell to cherish each moment with your family as much as possible as we don't know what God has written for us. It's been 20 days and it's still hard to believe my uncle is no more, but I have to move on and I will move in remembering his teachings.
Also lastly I would like to convey, don't be afraid of COVID. I had high infection, yet I recovered. Have a positive mind, you will also recover.
