Love capsule: I married a rich man who is much older than me and I have never been happiest!

When life throws confetti at you, catch them! That’s my own unique twist to this saying. And quite literally, I caught my set of confetti at a party that changed my life for the better. Young, wild and unapologetic—that’s how I was in my mid-20s. I had an awesome job that I loved and didn’t have to stress about.

My siblings and I grew up in my grandmother’s home as our parents died in a car crash crash when we all were kids.

We lived the local life in a small town. I was the most ambitious one among my siblings; I wanted to taste what the high life was like.
And so, I left home once I turned 18. I earned a scholarship and funded my own studies with the money I had. I studied hard and went on to get a good job in sales. The better you are, the more money you make. That was the mantra I followed. I occasionally visited home and helped everyone but I was making money to support myself. I knew I had to earn more money because my siblings and my ailing grandmother counted on me.
One day I was at a sales party that our clients threw for us due to our exceptional work. We all drank beer, partied and had a good time. As the clients gave a heartwarming note, I was overwhelmed and surprised when they mentioned my name and congratulated me for my hard work. And right then and there, a man came up to me and shook my hand. He seemed visibly older and had a grey beard that was perfectly trimmed. He also had a stellar smile that looked amazing on him! I froze for a moment and then thanked him. He was the client’s lawyer and he had an amazing personality. We interacted for a while and the entire time, I was lost in his looks. He was too good to be true! Later I learnt, he was divorced and single.
He was quite older than me but there was no reason for me to not talk to him!
We actually met for dinner quite a few times after the party. He was a very humorous, interesting man. We had intellectual conversations and I enjoyed talking to him. I was already falling in love with him and I wanted to see where this went. We talked a lot after that and even followed up with each other over texts and calls. Soon, we began seeing each other. The idea of being with him made me feel secure and safe. I knew that if I committed myself to this man, I would never face a financial problem again as he was loaded with money. And also the fact that I liked him supported my thoughts.

Soon enough I told him about my family. He listened to me patiently and even showed his eagerness to visit my family and town. So we went to my grandmother’s home one weekend. However, my grandmother was visibly enraged. She warned me against being with an older man and that society would never see us as a normal couple. My heart was saddened and I got angry at the same time because if I ever married this man, it would be to support my family and I was doing all of this for them!
And so I did. We ended up marrying each other. He was simply glorious! He made me feel so special and left no stones turned in getting me the things I wanted. He bought me my first car and even showered me with gifts. Most of all, he funded my grandmother’s treatment. Even though I didn’t have any feelings of love for him, I liked him very much and that was enough for me. I was happy. The most important part is that he cared for me and provided me with the lifestyle I always wanted. At one point, he even asked if I wanted to stop working so that I could focus on my hobbies more, than earning money but I refused. I don't want to lose the thrill of closing deals and being independent.
