President
Donald Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, has accused the former president of being a “disgraceful” and “despicable” parent following reports that his youngest son, Barron Trump, has admired and interacted with controversial influencer Andrew Tate, who is facing multiple criminal allegations.
Mary Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump’s late older brother Fred Trump, made the remarks in a recent YouTube video, responding to reporting that linked Barron Trump to Tate, a self-described misogynist who has been charged with rape and human trafficking in Romania.

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate, who are dual US-British citizens, were arrested in Romania in late 2022 and formally indicted in 2023. Prosecutors allege the brothers participated in a criminal ring that lured women to Romania, where they were sexually exploited. Andrew Tate was also charged with rape. The brothers have denied all allegations.
Allegations of political influence
The Tate brothers were previously subject to a travel ban in Romania but flew to Florida in February after the restriction was unexpectedly lifted. Asked at the time whether the White House had intervened, Donald Trump told reporters: “I know nothing about that.” Mary Trump disputed that account, accusing her uncle of playing a role in Tate’s return to the United States.
“Andrew Tate spent years quoting high-profile conservatives and some of Donald's top advisers,” Mary Trump said in her video. “He made it very, very clear that he was a huge supporter of Donald Trump's. And with his massive social media following, that's all you need for Donald Trump to do whatever he can to make sure, regardless of the horrific crimes you've committed, you get to be free,” she continued.

Mary Trump also addressed reports connecting Barron Trump to Tate, describing the 19-year-old as a “huge fan” of the influencer.
“Imagine what kind of oh gosh, what's the word? Disgraceful, despicable parent you would need to be in order to think it's okay for your son to listen to and admire a monster like Andrew Tate,” she said.
The claims follow reporting by The New York Times, which last month cited Justin Waller, an influencer and mutual friend of the Tate brothers, as saying that Barron Trump admired Andrew Tate and spoke with him over Zoom. According to Waller, the conversation included discussion about their belief that the Romanian criminal case was an effort to silence the Tate brothers.
A lawyer for the Tate brothers reportedly dismissed the New York Times report as “fake news.”
This is not the first time Andrew Tate has publicly claimed connections to the Trump family. Tate has previously told reporters that he is “very close with the Trump family” and said he communicated with Barron Trump following an assassination attempt on Donald Trump in July 2024.
“I’m very close with the Trump family. I know them well. I spoke to Barron after the incident [In Butler]. I look forward to once I'm free being with Donald Trump in person and reminding him that he’s a bulletproof bad--,” Tate said at the time.
Beyond the Romanian charges, Andrew Tate has also been accused of sexual violence in a civil case in the United Kingdom. In the United States, he and his brother have been under investigation by Homeland Security anti-trafficking agents and federal prosecutors since 2023, according to The New York Times.
Donald Trump has not publicly responded to Mary Trump’s comments or to the reporting linking Barron Trump to Andrew Tate.
