People reveal the one thing they would like to change about their job

What would I change about my job...

We all want to land in a dream job where there’s no stress, the work finishes on time, and colleagues are more of friends, right? But in reality, even if we love what we do, there’s always something or another that bothers us at the workplace. We got in touch with six people from different fields and asked them the one thing they would like to change about their job or office. Here’s what they had to say…

2/7

My boss, of course

“I have a really biased manager. He favours (think more leaves, less work and ample coffee breaks) to those who compliment him for no good reason. And an employee’s work performance does not matter much for him. So yeah, if possible I would like to change my manager at my work place. I dream about it every single day!”

The location

“My office is quite far from my home, and I travel for four hours every day to reach there. Apart from hectic work schedule, commuting saps me of all my energy. Given a choice, I would surely shift my entire office to a location that is at the distance of a kilometre from my home.”

My irritating colleague

“I am quite irritated with the colleague who sits next to me. He sneezes without using a tissue, does not wash his hands after having lunch, and keeps on chit-chatting all the time. Not to mention, completing his work on time is never his priority. My concentration levels would exponentially increase if he’s not around.”

5/7

Salary, undoubtedly

“I feel I am not paid enough as per my skills and work experience, and wish that my monthly salary is increased by at least twenty thousand. It would feel more content as an employee and in turn, would be motivated to perform better.”

More leaves

“I love travelling but we get only 16 paid leaves in a year. I end up using most of them due to my personal reasons. Hence, I rarely take offs that I can use to travel. In fact, I have got my salary deducted several times when I have gone for even a three day trip. This is definitely the worst thing about my job.”

7/7

Flexible working hours

“I wish my job offered little leniency in terms of working hours. For instance, I should be allowed to leave an hour early if I have already compensated for it by working overtime. Also, I wish we get the option to work from home. Flexible working hours help to maintain work-life balance, and one does not need to specially take a full-day leave.”
