Most expensive pet dog breeds

It is often said that dogs are a man's best friend, and rightly so. Our furry friends offer unconditional love and support to us, which makes them invaluable in our lives. However, when it comes to owning a dog, for some people it’s an investment. While most dogs come with reasonable price tags, certain breeds are so rare and unique that their price skyrockets. These breeds are known for their unique traits, and impeccable pedigrees. Here we list some such most expensive dogs in the world and what makes them so special:

Tibetan Mastiff – $1.5 million

Often believed to be one of the most expensive pet dog breeds in the world, the Tibetan Mastiff was originally bred to guard sheep in the Himalayas. While these giant dogs are huge and have thick coats, they are very protective in nature. Their rarity and historical significance contribute to their high price. As per reports, a Tibetan Mastiff was sold for a whopping $1.5 million in 2011, which made it the most expensive dog ever sold. What adds to their cost is their expensive care and maintenance, which makes them a truly luxurious dog to have.

Priced between $8,000 and $10,000, French Bulldogs are prized for their compact, muscular build and friendly nature. Originally bred as companion dogs, they are particularly favoured in metropolitan areas for their adaptability to apartment living due to their small size.
