Corporate Governance Excellence Summit 2025: Redefining Leadership with Sustainability and Innovation

The World Development Corporation, in collaboration with WASME and the World Council of Directors, held India's biggest Corporate Governance Excellence Summit in Pune. It featured over 1,000 CXOs, launched AI tools like Lawtech and Boardsearch.ai, and honoured leaders like Shreegauri Sawant. The event included insights from global ambassadors and recognized 250 executives with distinguished titles.

World Development Corporation (WDC) in collaboration with the World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) and Directors’ Institute- World Council of Directors—conducted the biggest Corporate Governance Excellence Summit and Awards 2025 of India. The summit, held in Pune, hosted over 1,000 CXOs and 35+ leading search firms. It addressed the pressing challenges of corporate governance while celebrating ethical and innovative leadership in sustainable solutions.
The sessions saw speeches from distinguished spokespersons and industry leaders, who shared their experiences in sustainable leadership. Mr. Suresh Prabhu, a prominent leader and former senior parliamentarian of India and Mr. M. Damodaran, a celebrated leader in corporate governance and former Chairman of SEBI, Mr. Yogesh Kadam, Maharashtra Minister of State Home ( Urban) , Revenue, Food & Drug Administration , Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection & Rural Development, were such three spokespersons. In addition, several congratulatory messages were shared by notable figures, including the President of UNESCO and other committee members from UNESCO.
Ambassadors from 15+ nations, including Ethiopia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Namibia, Rwanda, Timor-Leste, El Salvador and Cyprus, shared their insights on sustainable corporate governance and ESG implementation strategies. In alignment with its mission to contribute toward gender equality, Directors’ Institute honoured Shreegauri Sawant, a prominent transgender activist from Mumbai, celebrating her impactful work for the transgender community.
The summit featured the launch of Lawtech, an AI-powered tool transforming legal practices with solutions such as ready-made drafts, one-click research, references to past judgements under both new and old law, and much more. Developed with invaluable feedback from senior legal professionals, judges, and lawyers, Lawtech promises to revolutionise the legal landscape. Additionally, Boardsearch.ai, was introduced, which is a cutting-edge platform that serves as a repository of verified top-tier senior leaders not easily accessible through conventional methods to facilitate the search for senior CXO or board positions. This solution offers a unique platform with verified profiles of professionals and corporate leaders from various industries, with more than 500 key skillsets required for leadership positions. Powered by AI, it enables leaders to create and manage their profiles, streamlining the search for board and CXO positions.
Prominent search firms such as ABC Consultants, Stanton Chase, Huntsmen & Barons, Spencer Stuart, and others were invited and attended the event, making it a highly enriching networking experience. Additionally, over 50 distinguished board members, certified through Directors’ Institute and currently serving on various boards, were honoured with the Inspiring Board Directors Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to governance and leadership.
Furthermore, more than 250 executives were conferred with the titles of Certified International Corporate Director and Certified Independent Director, signifying their readiness to drive innovation and excellence in governance on a global scale.
A defining highlight of the summit was the participation of prominent international dignitaries, underscoring its global significance. The distinguished guests included H.E. Ms. Jacqueline Mukangira, High Commissioner of Rwanda to India; H.E. Ms. Capaya Rodriguez Gonzalez, Ambassador of Venezuela; H.E. Mr. Fernando Bucheli, Ambassador of Ecuador to India; H.E. Mr. Evagoras Vryonides, High Commissioner of Cyprus; Mr. Gebru Tekle, Third Secretary at the Embassy of Ethiopia; H.E. Mr. Tangeni Mulunga, Deputy Head of Mission at the High Commission of Namibia to India; H.E. Mr. Francisco Dionisio Fernandes, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Timor-Leste; Mr. Steven Antonio Ramirez Cuellar, Second Secretary at the Embassy of El Salvador; Mr. Juan Jose Goldnick Brandt, Minister Counsellor from Venezuela; Dr. Sanjiv Layek- Executive Secretary of WASME; Mr. Rajesh Batra- Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Head - Centre for MSME.
