10 most educated countries in the world in 2026

Education is viewed as one of the best pillars of economic development and growth. Countries with the most educated populations tend to have better innovation, productivity, and economic performance. One of the most authoritative global comparisons of the level of education is conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which publishes comparative data on the level of education of the population of various countries. Based on the tertiary level of education attainment, which is the percentage of the population aged 25-64 with university-level qualifications such as diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees, we present to you the list of 10 most educated countries in the world.

Canada is at the forefront of the world, with about 65% of its adult population having tertiary qualifications. The education system in Canada is mainly publicly funded and is managed by the provinces. This ensures that access to colleges and universities is widespread. Canada also has one of the highest percentages of people with college diplomas in the OECD countries. This is a testament to the effectiveness of the vocational and applied education system in the country. Immigration policies in Canada also encourage skilled professionals, making it one of the most educated countries in the world. Canadian universities are world leaders in healthcare, engineering, artificial intelligence, and environmental sciences.
