EXCLUSIVE: Never-seen-before pictures of Chandra Grahan (Blood Moon) 2025 that will leave you stunned

The moon turned all red and fiery on the night of 7 September 2025. The skies showed a rare celestial dance known as the Chandra Grahan, or lunar eclipse (blood moon). Our travel editor Priya Srivastava captured this rare spectacle in her camera presenting a visual journey of the Moon’s transformation into a blood moon.

Blood Moon in full bloom

The Moon glowed in shades of deep blood red. It was a sight that looked more surreal. The Lunar eclipse happens only when Earth’s shadow completely envelopes it and turns it into a rare “blood moon” spectacle. Simply gorgeous and magical.

The shadow bite

The first bite of shadow looked nothing short of magical! A half-veiled moon gradually dimming marked the starting of the rare celestial journey of the Moon.
Half Hidden, Half Showing

At this stage, the Moon stood divided — one half glowing with silvery brightness, the other fading into darkness. The symmetry of light and shadow created a captivating balance in the sky.

As the shadow deepened, the Moon’s glow surrounded by a faint halo, as if the universe was setting the stage for the blood moon to arrive. And it did arrive in all its glow and glory!

The Moon illuminates the night sky with a silver glow! The beauty of the moon in contrast to the dramatic transformation that followed. Simply stunning.

The final frames captured the Moon glowing faintly as the eclipse reached its peak. It was no longer the familiar silver disc but a mystical orb radiating an ancient, fiery charm.
