CHENNAI: The mystery shoulder injury to Virender Sehwag has opened the door for Murali Vijay. According to a Board of Control for Cricket in India release on Tuesday Sehwag has sustained a shoulder injury and has been advised rest for three-four weeks. He has therefore been ruled out of the ICC World T20.
The Chennai Super Kings opener, one of the shining lights of the IPL so far, was nowhere in the picture when the team for the T20 World Cup was selected about three weeks back.

But a couple of magical innings against Royal Challengers and Rajasthan Royals have helped him clinch the berth after Sehwag was ruled out.
"It's a great feeling to be included in the World Cup squad. But at the same time, I am disappointed that Virender Sewhag is not playing. I have been working hard for this moment, and from hereon, my job is to make the most of the opportunities I get," an ecstatic Vijay told the TOI just before he went into the CSK nets during an evening practice session at Chepauk. "My performance in the IPL has definitely helped me get the nod and I hope to do well in the IPL semifinals," added Vijay.
Even at the nets, he seemed to be in beautiful touch that helped him win the ticket to the West Indies.
"The best thing about Vijay's batting is that there is no slogging about it. He hits clean and that makes him such a lovely player to watch," chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth had said after his innings against Rajasthan Royals, and it seemed that he kept that in mind when he decided on Viru's replacement.
