JALANDHAR: On the eve of the NRI Sammelan being organized by Punjab government, North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has demanded that Punjab government should designate a special fast track court or set up a judicial commission to resolve the property disputes and matrimonial issues in a minimum period of time. "Most of the overseas Punjabi Community members have to run from pillar to post in their home state Punjab to resolve their property disputes.
It takes several years and becomes a harassment for the NRIs," said NAPA President
Satnam Singh Chahal who has come here to attend the Sammelan on invitation of the Punjab government. He urged the Punjab government to assure the overseas Punjabi community members for their property and life security during their visit to Punjab. "This will help to attract more NRI to invest in Punjab. The need is to go into the reasons that why Punjabi NRIs were not investing in Punjab unlike Gujarat where the diaspora community was rushing to make investments,' Chahal said. He blamed the bureaucracy terming it a major barrier in the overall development of Punjab. He said that earlier Punjab government took a god decision of sending the Senior Police officers' delegation Including Mr S.K.Sharma ADGP and IG Gurpreet Deo to United States to listens the issues and concerns of Punjabi Community residing in the United Stated and United Kingdom near their home locations."This happened first time in the history of Punjab and it proved to be a very fruitful exercise as the Police Delegation solved most of the issues and complaints within two months after the completion of their Visit," Chahal said.
