Veteran actress Reema Lagoo, known for her performance in TV shows like "Sriman Srimati" and "Tu Tu Main Main", died due to a cardiac arrest in the wee hours of Thursday (May 18) at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Her acting career spanned over four decades and She was last seen in the television show "Naamkaran", aired on Star Plus.

The news of her demise came as a shock to all her fans and co-actors as the actress had shot for her TV show few hours before she got a cardiac arrest.

The 59-year-old actress had shot for a new promo of Naamkarann on Monday (May 15). She was shooting for the show till 7 PM yesterday (May 17) and had left for home after wrap up.

She played the role of Dayavanti Mehta, mother and grandmother to the main protagonist on Naamkarann.

The entire cast of Naamkarann was deeply saddened to hear the news including Gulfam Khan, who burst into tears remembering Reema.

Her role of a mother-in-law on the popular TV sitcom Tu Tu Main Main is one of the most memorable roles of her career.

The last rites of Reema Lagoo were held at 2 pm on Thursday (May 18) at Oshiwara crematorium.

She is survived by daughter Mrunmayee, who is also a theatre and film actress and theatre director.
