An unexploded shell, suspected to be from the World War II era, was recovered in Assam’s Tinsukia district near the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border and later neutralised by the Indian Army. The object, measuring about 12 inches in length and 6 inches in diameter, was found in the Ledo–Lekhapani area. It was unearthed at Singri village under the Ledo police outpost during excavation work near a shop. A local resident and workers spotted the metallic object buried underground and immediately informed authorities after suspecting it could be hazardous. Police and security personnel rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area, and evacuated nearby residents as a precaution. The Army later confirmed it was an unexploded ordnance and safely disposed of it.
