Can’t dismiss traditional medicine’: Hamdard Laboratories chairman on ancient healing systems

In conversation with Prasad Sanyal, Group Business Head, Chairman of Hamdard Laboratories India, Abdul Majeed, spoke about the evolution of traditional and modern medicine systems, describing Unani, Ayurveda and Chinese medicine as ancient philosophies of healing that continue to hold relevance in holistic healthcare today. In the interview, Majeed said modern allopathy developed over time as science advanced and societies began investigating the causes of disease, low life expectancy and mortality. He argued that traditional and modern medicine should be seen as complementary systems rather than competing approaches, emphasizing that all forms of medicine evolved from humanity’s long-standing search for healing, prevention and better understanding of disease.
