Uttarakhand Forest Fires: 20 Incidents Reported In Rudraprayag, 15 Hectares Affected

The Forest Department in Rudraprayag has reported 20 forest fire incidents so far this season, affecting around 15 hectares of land across reserved forests, Van Panchayat areas, and revenue forest regions. Officials said the incidents have increased due to prolonged dry weather conditions and alleged human negligence, with some fires suspected to be deliberately set. Divisional Forest Officer Rajat Suman said several cases point to intentional burning, and some accused individuals have already been apprehended. He added that investigations are ongoing and strict action is being taken against offenders. Penalties may include fines and jail terms of up to two years in serious cases. Authorities said the situation remains concerning amid rising temperatures and continued dry spells.
