“No one allowed to take law in hands…” Giriraj Singh on Haldwani violence

Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh on February 09 reacted to the recent violent clashes that erupted in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani. He said that no one is allowed to take the law in hands and Uttarakhand government is capable of handling such matters. Giriraj Singh said, "No one has the right to take the law in his hands. Be it religious circumstances or any other reason. Uttarakhand government is able, and if anyone takes the law into their hands, they will handle it perfectly." Violent clashes erupted in Haldwani’s Banbhoolpura area on February 08 after the district authorities carried out an anti-encroachment drive. Vehicles were set ablaze and heavy damage to properties was witnessed. According to police, 4 people lost their lives and over 100 police personnel sustained injuries.
