BANGALORE: Ajay Jayaram and Trupthi Murgunde annexed the men's and women's crowns respectively in the NPL All-India senior-ranking badminton tournament at the Karnataka Badminton association courts on Saturday.
Fourth seed Jayaram defeated Andhra Pradesh's Guru Sai Dutt 21-17, 18-21, 21-15 in the hotly-contested final which lasted about an hour.
Trupthi rallied back from a first game loss to humble Kerala's P C Thualsi 18-21, 21-9, 21-11.
However, Thulasi, who had ousted top-seed Sayali Gokhale in the singles, had the satisfaction of winning the doubles title in association with Sikki Reddy.
The duo defeated Anjali Kalita and Jyotshna in straight games 21-18, 21-14.
Pranav Chopra and Sai Praneet captured the men's double title, defeating Arun Vishnu and Tarun Kona 23-21, 14-21, 21-14.
Arun Vishu combined with Aparna Balan to beat back the challenge of Pranav Chopra and Prajakta Sawant 21-17, 12-21, 21-18 to lift the mixed doubles crown.
