Nagpur shuttlers Nabeel, Rohan, Gandhar start in style at All India Junior tournament

NAGPUR: Nabeel Ahmed, Gandhar Nawale and Rohan Gurbani started their campaign in style in the Yonex-Sunrise All India Junior (U-19) Ranking badminton tournament at Kochi on Monday.
The talented city trio of Nabeel, Gandhar and Rohan advanced to the third round in the U-19 boys singles. The tall teenager recorded two thrilling wins on the opening day of the qualifying rounds.Nabeel will meet Gautam Arora in the third round on Tuesday.
In the U-19 boys doubles, Nabeel Ahmed and Makarand Nimbalkar will take on A Vimalraj and H Arunesh.
One of the heroes of recently held Baidyanath Nagpur district badminton championship, Gandhar Nawale thumped Adil Olakara 15-12, 15-4 in the second round. Gandhar will face SD Aadithyan in the third round of qualifications.
Seeded fifth in the qualifications, Rohan Gurbani will lock horns with Ayush Makhija on Tuesday. The main draw matches will commence on Wednesday. Nagpur’s top teenagers Malvika Bansod and Rashi Lambe will be seen in action from Wednesday onwards.

U-19 boys doubles: Divij Shah-Sankalp Chandragurala bt Shiju Alby Mahtew-PV Akhil 15-10, 13-15, 15-7.
