The Nagpur district U-17 and U-19 teams started in style in the Maharashtra Junior (U-17 and U-19) Inter-District Badminton Championship which got underway at the Dayanand College Indoor Stadium in Latur on Monday.

NAGPUR: The Nagpur district U-17 and U-19 teams started in style in the Maharashtra Junior (U-17 and U-19) Inter-District Badminton Championship which got underway at the Dayanand College Indoor Stadium in Latur on Monday.
According to the reports reaching here, both the Nagpur teams won two rounds each to storm into the quarterfinals. Nagpur U-17 team blanked Wardha 3-0 in the opening round and later in the evening registered a similar 3-0 victory over Amravati to book berth in the last eight.
In the U-19 category too, Nagpur team sailed smoothly. Nagpur crushed Osmanabad 3-0. In the second round, Nagpur rallied back superbly to outclass Aurangabad 3-1.
In the quarterfinals, Nagpur U-17 side will take on fourth seed Nashik on Tuesday. The U-19 team will also square off against Nashik for a spot in the semifinal.

U-17 (Round 1): Nagpur bt Wardha 3-0 (Sudhanshu Bhure bt Hrushikesh Darne 21-7, 21-10; Mugdha Agre bt Saniya Ali 21-7, 21-8; Gaurav Mithe-Rohan Gurbani bt Abhishek Sharma-Gitesh Gaidhane 21-9, 21-10).
(Round 2): Nagpur bt Amravati 3-0 (Gaurav Mithe bt Vinit Upadhay 21-10, 21-8; Mugdha Agre bt Umisha Rathi 21-6, 21-4; Gaurav Mithe-Rohan Gurbani bt Jatin Shende-Vinit Upadhay 21-17, 21-9).
U-19 (Round 1): Nagpur bt Osmanabad 3-0 (Gaurav Mithe bt Ruchir Govardhan 21-12, 21-6; Ritika Thaker bt Sumitra Hangargekar 21-4, 21-8; Sarvesh Kukde-Sudhanshu Bhure bt Manish Ganesh-Shravan Tambe 21-12, 21-13).
(Round 2): Nagpur bt Aurangabad 3-1 (Gaurav Mithe lost to Arnav Shirish 19-21, 20-22; Mrunmayi Saoji bt Janaki Patil 21-8, 21-10; Gaurav Mithe-Sarvesh Kukde bt Darshan Bhalerao-Servesh Kuberkar 21-16, 21-16; Ritika Thaker-Mrunmayi Saoji bt Neha Sikchi-Pariya Patil 21-7, 21-8).
