VADODARA: The Open Baroda Badminton Tournament organized by Bal Bhavan Society for the 14th consecutive year ended recently. More than 490 entries were registered for the tournament that saw participation from Under-10, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 boys and girls.
Prizes for the tournament were given away by Nimish Patel, managing director of Dinesh Mills and L Chuaungo principal secretary -- finance of Gujarat government was the chief guest.
Dhruv Raval won in U-10 category, Aditya Kadam in U-13, Atharv Joshi in U-15, Karan Chauhan in U-17 and Nipam Basumatari in U-19. Tarun Chauhan won in the men's open category by beating Vinay Verma. In girls, Saishwari Sahastrabuddhe won in U-10, Jhanvi Khanna won in U-13, Maitreyee Khatri in U-15 and Riya Gajjar in U-17 category. Shivani Khanvilkar won in the women's open category by beating Alka Lakra.
Finals of the tournament were played at Bal Bhavan that was followed by prize distribution ceremony. To encourage budding players, all semi-finalists were up to U-15 categories were also awarded special prizes.
