NAGPUR: Promising city shuttler Sudhanshu Bhure caused a major upset by stunning top seed Sai Charan Koya in the 30th Sub Junior National Badminton Championships at Vijayawada on Friday.
According to reports reaching here, Sudhanshu edged out Andhra Pradesh's Koya 21-17, 15-21, 21-19 in an exciting match to enter the U-15 boys singles third round.
Unseeded Sudhanshu, a Standard IX student of Centre Point School, Katol Road, will now take on Angshuman Gogoi on Saturday.
State champion Sudhanshu and Parth Ghube of Pune will meet Sidharath Bhushan and Tushar Kumar Setu in the U-15 boys doubles. The reigning Maharashtra champion should do well in the doubles section as they are in very good form this season.
Second seed Rohan Gurbani thumped Manav Raj Sumith 21-16, 21-16 in the U-15 boys singles second round. Rohan, a Standard VIII student of CPS, will clash with Sushil Nayak in the third round. Both Sudhanshu and Rohan train at Ajay Dayal Badminton Academy.
Another city shuttler Aditi Sadhankar, a student of Centre Point Schoo, Dabha, was beaten by top seed M Meghana Reddy of Telangana in the U-13 girls singles second round. Aditi is ranked 16th in India and this is her first sub-junior nationals.

Pranjal Sharma and Unnati Jaral in the U-13 girls doubles first round.
