New Zealand have done just enough - New Zealand’s bowling attack enjoyed a dream start behind the efforts of Will O'Rourke and Nathan Smith, with Will particularly effective in extracting swing to leave the hosts reeling early on. However, Bangladesh seized control during the middle overs, neutralizing the Kiwi spinners to steer the innings back on track. While Lister and Lennox managed to claim two wickets apiece, they proved expensive, and the likes of Abbas and Smith struggled to make a lasting impression as the partnership grew. Ultimately, Will O'Rourke remained the standout performer, finishing with a deserved three-wicket haul, and a disciplined performance in the final five overs shifted the momentum back toward the visitors. While New Zealand will back their chances following that late surge, the hosts will feel they have posted a competitive total well within their capability to defend. Shanto leads the chart - Despite a precarious start that saw Bangladesh reeling at 9/2 after just three overs, a magnificent century from Najmul Hossain Shanto anchored a brilliant recovery. Walking into the teeth of a fierce spell from Will O'Rourke, who was finding immense success with the new ball, Shanto partnered with Litton Das to stabilize the innings. The duo’s aggressive yet calculated 160-run stand off just 178 deliveries effectively shifted the momentum and neutralized the early threat. While Towhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed useful cameos to keep the scoreboard ticking, the finishing kick lacked its usual sting. Bangladesh left some runs on the table by managing only 34 runs and losing three wickets in the final five overs, concluding an otherwise dominant outing with a slightly muted flourish.
