Soumya SarkarTamim IqbalBangladesh's leading run-getter in Tests and ODIs, Tamim comes in to the Champions Trophy with a stellar form that has since him score 1190 runs in 24 matches since the 2015 50-over World Cup with an average of over 56. The 28-year-old has transformed himself from being a flamboyant opener who had the tendency play to the galleries often to one of Bangladesh batting mainstay.
He led from the front during Bangladesh’s warm up game against Pakistan with 102-run knock after shining the tri-series involving New Zealand and Ireland.
Shakib Al HasanThe allrounder was key to Bangladesh’s super form in the ODIs in 2015 that saw them beat India, New Zealand and South Africa. A reliable bat in the middle order and wily operated with the ball, Shakib will relish the challenge of England after warming the benches for most of the IPL. Along with seniors Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur, the former Bangladesh skipper will be expected to play a key role in Bangladesh’s campaign in the Champions Trophy.
Mustafizur RahmanComing off a lengthy injury layoff, Mustafizur is back to his best claiming seven wickets in the four matches he is featured leading up to the Champions Trophy. His stint with English county side Sussex will keep him and in good stead and that will be a big boost for Bangladesh as well.
Mashrafe MortazaThe leader of the attack and the most experienced bowler for Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has played down the expectations with which Bangladesh qualified for the CT, being ranked sixth. Mortaza is also in good form taking wickets in the last five matches that he has played. During the Ireland tri-series the left-armer picked up four wickets, while against Sri Lanka he bagged six in three matches
Soumya SarkarTamim’s opening partner Soumya Sarkar too has blossomed in to a reliable batsman who can shift gears at will. He racked up two fifty plus scores during the Ireland tri-series and will be looking to come good under the tutelage of his senior partner
