'No question mark over Sanju Samson as wicketkeeper in T20Is'

After his good show in South Africa, Sanju Samson was named India's first-choice wicketkeeper for the five-match T20I series against England, beginning on Wednesday in Kolkata; and captain Suryakumar Yadav said Samson has shown "what he is capable of."
Samson scored two centuries in the four-match series against the Proteas; and with T20 World Cup winner Rishabh Pant not part of the squad, eyes will be on Samson to repeat his performance both as a batter and behind the stumps.

"Currently, there is no question mark on the wicketkeeper. Sanju has done really well in the last 7-8, maybe 10, games he's played; and he has truly shown what he is capable of," said Surya at the pre-match press conference, ahead of the first T20I at the Eden Gardens.
Dhruv Jurel is the backup wicketkeeper for the T20I series, while Pant will return for the 50-over Champions Trophy beginning in February.

Surya added that they are building the core group for the T20 World Cup next year, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
"There's still a long way to go before the World Cup. I don't want to think about that directly. It's about making a team. Which player can do well in which position? Which bowler can win a match on a given day single-handedly? So all those things. It's about playing the same group," the skipper said.
