NEW DELHI:
Towhid Hridoy overcame cramps to score his maiden ODI century but Mohammed
Shami's five-wicket haul helped India restrict Bangladesh to 228 in their
Champions Trophy opening match in Dubai on Thursday.
Hridoy scored 100 runs off 118 balls, including six fours and two sixes while Jaker Ali contributed 68 runs from 114 balls with four boundaries.

Shami delivered an impressive performance with figures of 5 for 53, helping compensate for the absence of injured Jasprit Bumrah. During the match, he became the fastest Indian bowler to reach 200 ODI wickets.
Hridoy demonstrated excellent batting technique, reaching his century in 114 balls while maintaining a good scoring rate. Both Hridoy and Ali showed remarkable composure under pressure situations.
The Bangladesh batsmen benefited from India's fielding errors. Ali was dropped on zero off Axar Patel's bowling, who missed out on a hat-trick after dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim and Tanzid Hasan in consecutive deliveries.
Hridoy received two lifelines - first when Hardik Pandya dropped him at mid-off on 23, and later when KL Rahul missed a stumping opportunity. Indian fielders also allowed easy singles and doubles during the middle overs.
Shami's new ball bowling was particularly effective on the slow but even-paced pitch. He dismissed Soumya Sarkar in the first over and soon claimed his second wicket when Shubman Gill caught Mehdy Hasan Miraz in the slips.
The experienced pacer later broke the partnership between Hridoy and Ali by dismissing the latter. At age 34, Shami surpassed Zaheer Khan's record of 59 wickets to become India's highest wicket-taker in ICC tournaments.
Harshit Rana, selected ahead of Arshdeep Singh, supported Shami well with figures of 3/31.
