NEW DELHI: Ahead of the Twenty20 International series between India and Australia, here's a look at the top five most successful bowling spells that have been bowled in the shortest format on Australian soil in matches played between India and Australia:
Nathan Bracken: 3/11 in Melbourne (2008)Four months after India were crowned the World Twenty20 champions in 2007, they crashed to a humiliating nine-wicket defeat against Australia. India were bundled out for 74 runs in 17.3 overs in the only T20I at the Melbourne
Cricket Ground on February 1, 2008 with left-arm seamer Nathan Bracken finishing with 3/11 in his 2.3 overs. The fact that Bracken bowled one maiden over in his spell also highlighted India's pathetic batting display. Irfan Pathan (26) was the only Indian batsman to get to double figures. Australia raced to victory in 11.2 overs.

Australia were given a fine start by their openers Aaron Finch and David Warner in pursuit of a 189-run target at the Adelaide Oval on January 26, 2016, before Bumrah got rid of Warner. The 'yorker specialist' then returned to dismiss James Faulkner and Cameron Boyce as the Aussies fell short by 37 runs. Bumrah's three-wicket burst came off 3.3 overs and he couldn't have asked for a better debut.
David Hussey: 2/4 in Sydney (2012)Matthew Wade (72) and David Hussey (42) helped Australia pile up 171/4 in the 1st T20I in Sydney on February 1, 2012. The Indian run chase missed the momentum it needed as Hussey bowled two overs, conceded just four runs and took two wickets, one of which was
Rohit Sharma being bowled for a golden duck. Captain
Mahendra Singh Dhoni finished unbeaten on 48, but his knock only decreased the margin of the defeat -- 31 runs, as Australia took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Adam Voges: 2/5 in Melbourne (2008)Adam Voges was Nathan Bracken's partner in crime at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 1, 2008 when India were bowled out for 74 -- their lowest T20I total till date. Voges' first over was wicket-less but in his next over, he dismissed Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth off consecutive balls.
Ishant Sharma denied Voges a hat-trick, even though Australian stand-in captain Michael Clarke placed all his fielders in catching positions around Ishant's bat -- a rare scene in a T20I.
Praveen Kumar: 2/21 in Melbourne (2012)Praveen Kumar's two-wicket burst started the slide for Australia in the 2nd T20I in Melbourne on February 3, 2012 and along with three run outs, was instrumental in bowling out the hosts for 131 runs in 19.4 overs. Opting to bat first, Australia got off to a bad start as swashbuckling opener David Warner (8) skied a Praveen delivery high up in the air only to be caught by Gautam Gambhir at deep mid-wicket. Praveen got his second wicket two balls later when Shaun Marsh pushed forward to a delivery but edged the ball to first slip, where
Virender Sehwag fumbled the catch but while falling on the ground, reached out to tap the ball further up for captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to take the catch. India chased down the 132-run target with 8 wickets in hand and two balls to spare for their first victory of the tour.
