Hameed, Burns off to a solid start
England openers Haseeb Hameed (20*) and Rory Burns (14*) are off to a solid start. The batting has certainly looked much easier in the last last 30 minutes or so. Not much of movement in the air or off the pitch for India bowlers. A few plays and misses from the openers but India still in search for their opening breakthrough. ENG 37/0 after 17 overs.

Shami to Burns | FOUR!
Lovely cover drive from Rory Burns. Probably the best shot of the day so far. Over-cooked from Mohammed Shami outside off and Burns pounces onto that one in no time. Presents the full face of his bat and the ball races to the cover fence. ENG 29/0 after 10.4 overs.

Day 1 session 2 in a nutshell!
James Anderson rocked the top-order in an early morning spell as India got a rude jolt from a disciplined England pace attack which shot the visitors out for a paltry 78 on the first day of the third Test. At tea, England were 21 for no loss taking complete control of the proceedings after Virat Kohli's decision to bat under overcast conditions backfired badly. It is now second time in nine months that India have been bowled out for less than 100 after their Adelaide debacle of 36 all out in December last year. After the Lord's high, it was an absolute low for Kohli and his men as this is India's lowest score on a first day track in the past 34 years. The last time India were all-out for less than 100 on the first day of a Test was back in 1987 when fiery Jamaican Patrick Patterson scared the hell out of Dilip Vengsarkar's team, skittling them out for 75 at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. On the day, Rohit Sharma (19 off 105 balls) and Ajinkya Rahane (18 off 54 balls) were the only ones to reach double digits and the third highest contribution was 16 extra runs. Once Anderson (8-5-6-3), who is back at his best, used his lethal outswingers to good effect and got the wickets of KL Rahul (0), Cheteshwar Pujara (1) and rival skipper Virat Kohli (7), all caught by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, there was no resistance as India lost six wickets for 22 runs in the post lunch session. Craig Overton (3/14 in 10.3 overs), Ollie Robinson (2/16 in 10 overs) and Sam Curran (2/27 in 10 overs) didn't loosen the stranglehold after Anderson's first assault as India failed build on a single significant partnership.

Another solid session for England!

Tea on Day 1 | England 21/0 after 7 overs
That's it! Tea on Day 1. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed survive the tricky seven-over period before the break. India fail to get the early breakthrough! England will be pretty happy with their effort so far. They have completely dominated India in these first two sessions. Burns and Hameed go into the break unbeaten on 3 and 15 respectively.

Bowling change for India | Shami replaces Ishant
A maiden from Jasprit Bumrah and India have made their first bowling change at the other end. Skipper Virat Kohli trying out Mohammed Shami just before the tea break. He replaces Ishant Sharma. This should probably be the last over of the session. ENG 21/0 after 6 overs.

England 21/0 after 5 overs
The new openers pair of Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed is off to a good start. Both looking to play with positive intent. They have got the score board moving right from the start which is good from the home team's perspective. England openers have struggled in the last two Tests and India will look to exploit that.

India innings in a nutshell!
India collapsed to 78 all out after winning the toss on the first day of the third Test against England at Headingley on Wednesday. It was their lowest Test total against England since being dismissed for 42 at Lord's in 1974. The visitors lost their last six wickets for 22 runs having been 56/4 at lunch, with this slump following their all-time lowest 36 all out against Australia in Adelaide in December during a series India eventually won 2-1. Home great James Anderson ripped through India's top order while talking 3-6 in eight overs, including the prize scalp of Virat Kohli for seven. Both Sam Curran and Craig Overton took two wickets in two balls after lunch, with Overton finishing with 3-14 in 10.4 overs after being recalled in place of injured fast bowler Mark Wood. India opener Rohit Sharma (19) and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (18) were the only batsmen to make it into double figures on Wednesday, with 16 runs coming in extras.

England knock out India for 78!
And that's it! The pain and misery has finally come to an end. Virat Kohli and co. have been bundled out for a paltry 78 in the first innings of this Headingley Test. A horrendous batting performance as India have paid the price for it. A sensational all-round performance from England pacers. Craig Overton takes the final wicket in form of Mohammed Siraj.

Curran to Bumrah | OUT!
That's how cruel the game of cricket is. Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah were the unlikely stars with the bat for India in the last Test but today they both get out for a first-ball ducks. Two-in-two for Sam Curran as he, this time traps Bumrah right in front. Curran didn't even bother appealing and starts celebrating straightaway. Review from Bumrah but it goes down the drain. India are now 9 down.
