India vs England 3rd Test Day 1 Highlights: England 120/0 at stumps, lead by 42 runs

After pacers wreaked havoc with the ball, openers Haseeb Hameed (60*) and Rory Burns (52*) put on an impressive unbeaten century stand as England got to 120 for no loss at stumps on Day 1 of the Headingley Test. England also took their lead to 42 as India were earlier dismissed for a paltry 78 in their first innings. Curran to Jadeja | OUT!
India innings faltering like a pack of cards. They are eight down now. An angled-in delivery from Sam Curran from over-the-wicket and Ravindra Jadeja misses it completely. Gets trapped right in front. Goes for the review but is in vain. Jadeja walks back for 4.
19:04 (IST) Aug 25
Overton to Shami | OUT!
Edged and taken! Another one bites the dust! England pacers are one fire. First it was James Anderson. Then Ollie Robinson and now Craig Overton has joined the party. Two-in-two for Overton as Mohammed Shami falls for a first-ball duck.

Overton to Rohit | OUT!

9.1 overs into the post lunch session and India have only managed 9 runs. Rohit Sharma (18* off 100 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (3* off 21 balls) both playing the survival game at the moment. Bowling change now for England as Sam Curran replaces Ollie Robinson.

India 60/5 after 33 overs
Another tight over from Craig Overton comes to an end. A maiden! Pressure on India and especially Rohit Sharma. He is batting on 17 and has faced 99 balls. Robinson to Pant | OUT!
Jos Buttler claims his fifth catch of the Test. Five out of five! And once again an Indian batsman goes down trying to hit the ball outside off. Rishabh Pant this time edges an Ollie Robinson delivery straight to Buttler. Robinson claims his second wicket as India are now five down. The India batsmen are really struggling at the moment. India look to Rohit for revival!
This will be a crucial session for both the teams, especially India as they look to Rohit Sharma for some sort of revival after a terrible first session. In hindsight, as things stand right now, there will be questions if it was the right decision to bat first after winning the toss, regardless of the fact that the pitch doesn't seem to be too threatening. India lost KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane playing loose shots outside off.

Day 1 session 2 gets underway!
Rohit Sharma (15*) and Rishabh Pant (0*) are in the middle to resume India innings post lunch. Ollie Robinson to bowl the remaining one ball of his incomplete over. IND 56/4 after 25.5 overs

Day 1 Session 1 in a nutshell!
Ageless James Anderson was in the league of his own as hit India hard, reducing the visitors to 56 for four at Lunch on on Day 1 of the Headingley Test. Skipper Virat Kohli won his first toss in England in Tests but his decision to bat first heavily backfired as India got off to a horrendous start. After all the high-octane drama that unfolded in the second Test, veteran Anderson got to business straightaway, removing in-form KL Rahul for a four-ball duck in the very first over. He then got rid of Cheteshwar Pujara for one (10th time in Tests), producing a splendid delivery that just jagged away after pitching, taking the outside edge of his bat. The Kohli vs Anderson battle was then on, sooner than expected but it did not last long as well, as a fiery Anderson forced Kohli into the drive which in-turn produced an outside edge and Jos Buttler completed a simple catch behind the stumps. It was the seventh time Anderson got Kohli in Tests as his poor run in the longest format continued. India were tottering at 21 for three but then Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane got to the repair work, stitching an 35-run partnership off 92 balls. But at the stroke of Lunch, Ollie Robinson got Rahane out for 18 as England snatched the morning session after losing the toss. At the break, India had Rohit Sharma at the crease unbeaten on 15.

Ollie Robinson gets Rahane for 18 as once again an India batsman perishes to the delivery just outside the line of the off stump. Edged and Jos Buttler is in business once again. Makes no mistake behind the stumps. Robinson gets his first wicket of the match. Umpires have also called for the Lunch break. England end the session on top. Rohit Sharma walk back to the pavilion unbeaten on 15. IND 56/4 after 25.5 overs.

Unbelievable bowling from Anderson
