Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes huge claim, credits Virat Kohli for India's Test transformation
NEW DELHI: Veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has credited Virat Kohli for ushering in a new era in India’s Test cricket, hailing his aggressive mindset and leadership as a game-changer.
In a candid conversation shared by Royal Challengers Bengaluru on social media, Bhuvneshwar praised Kohli for instilling a hunger to win overseas Tests and redefining the role of fast bowlers in the longest format.

“I will give all credit to Virat Kohli for Team India's transformation in Test cricket and the fast bowling revolution. He brought in that mindset of winning everywhere — not just going with the flow. That mindset of Virat was very special,” Bhuvneshwar said.
Once a mainstay in India’s pace attack, Bhuvneshwar last played an international match in 2022.
With emerging talents like Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik rising through the ranks, the 35-year-old remains grounded and realistic about his future with the national side.
“The way I have approached myself in the last few years, personally, I will say that I never make any goals. There is no aim. I just keep going match by match, tour by tour or whatever. I think that helps me a lot. To stay in that moment, to stay in the present. And to give my best in the trophy or tournament that is going on,” he said.
In IPL 2025, Bhuvneshwar has quietly made an impact with 12 wickets in 10 games for RCB, proving he’s still got plenty to offer.
Despite battling several injuries over the years, including setbacks in both the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, he remains philosophical.
“When you get injured on such a big stage, you understand that the injury is a part of the game, but sometimes it is very difficult to explain to yourself 'why' at such a time. So it was tough, of course,” he explained
With 294 wickets across formats since his debut in 2012, Bhuvneshwar’s journey has been a mix of brilliance, resilience, and humility. As he puts it: “And all I can say is, no regrets. That is all I can say”
RCB next face LSG on Friday as they push toward playoff contention with 16 points from 11 matches.
