Former
Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif expressed concerns about Pakistan's chances against India in their upcoming
Asia Cup encounter on September 14, citing recent poor performances and the need for significant improvement in both execution and team mindset. Speaking to news agency
IANS, Latif highlighted Pakistan's recent losses to Bangladesh and West Indies while emphasising the challenges of facing a strong Indian side.
Pakistan's cricket team has been experiencing a period of uncertainty, with unexpected defeats against teams they were expected to beat. These setbacks have raised questions about their preparation for the prestigious Asia Cup tournament, scheduled to start on September 9.

Asia Cup ho jaye bas (Just hope Asia Cup goes on without issues)," Latif stated, indicating his primary concern is for the tournament to proceed smoothly.
The former wicketkeeper-batter provided a detailed assessment of Pakistan's current situation. "Humari cricket hawa may chal rhi hai (our cricket is inconsistent)… We lost to Bangladesh and the West Indies — matches we should never have lost. Our captain might be good, but juggling all three formats is not easy. We have talent, but we are not making the right decisions yet," he observed.
Pakistan's recent performances have included defeats to Bangladesh and a second-string West Indies team, results that have intensified scrutiny of their preparation methods and team strategy.
These losses have come at a crucial time as they approach the Asia Cup.
The team is scheduled to begin their Asia Cup campaign against Oman on September 12, followed by the highly anticipated clash with India in the UAE on September 14. This scheduling adds pressure to their preparation timeline.
"There is talent, but execution and decision-making are the most essential things, especially against a team like India," Latif said.
