SMAT T20: Hyderabad halt Mumbai's winning streak

Mumbai's unbeaten streak in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy was ended by Hyderabad, who won by 23 runs. Pacer T Ravi Teja was the standout performer, taking 4 wickets for 32 runs. Mumbai now needs to win their last league match against Mizoram to secure a spot in the knockouts. Hyderabad scored 155 runs for 5 wickets in their innings, with opener Tanmay Agarwal top-scoring with 59 runs. Mumbai could only manage 132 runs for 8 wickets in their chase.

MUMBAI: Mumbai's unbeaten run-which saw them score five straight wins- was finally halted when, powered by a superb spell by pacer T Ravi Teja (4-32 in four overs), Hyderabad beat them by 23 runs in their penultimate match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy at the Jaipuria Vidhyalaya Ground in Jaipur on Wednesday.
With three teams - table toppers Mumbai, Hyderabad and Baroda having 20 points each - Ajinkya Rahane & Co must beat Mizoram in their last league match on Friday in order to make it to the knockouts.

Chasing 156, Mumbai lost half their side-Yashasvi Jaiswal (16), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (26), Rahane (24), Shivam Dube (2) and Sarfaraz Khan (2), with just 76 on board in the 11th over. The man who did the damage for Hyderabad was Teja, who picked the wickets of Jaiswal, Rahane, Dube and later Shams Mulani (17). While skipper Tilak Varma (6) was dismissed early by left-arm spinner Shams Mulani, he trapped Sarfaraz lbw while conceding just 20 runs in 3.4 overs.
Batting first, Hyderabad scored 155 for five in 20 overs, opener Tanmay Agarwal (59, 46b, 3x4, 3x6), Rahul Singh Gahlaut (37 off 26 balls) and Chandan Sahani (29 off 23 balls) all contributed well. Gahlaut and Sahani added 60 for the fourth wicket in 39 balls.
For Mumbai, pacer Tushar Deshpande (2-34) and Mulani (2-29) picked two wickets each.
