NAGPUR: India pacer
Umesh Yadav is likely to play for Vidarbha in the
Vijay Hazare Trophy. Yadav hasn’t played any competitive cricket after the first Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Yadav was part of the Indian One-day squad that toured England but was later ignored for the Asia Cup. He is most likely to feature in the first four-five matches for Vidarbha before the West Indies Test series, which begins on October 4.
Yadav hadn’t been part of the Indian One-day squad after the Australia One-day series last year.
The Hazare Trophy will give him a good opportunity to show his form to the selectors for the shorter format. He had a brilliant IPL earlier this year and was one of the shining lights in Royal Challangers Bangalore’s forgettable season.
