NAGPUR: Facing women's outfit of the Railways in T20s has turned out to be a learning experience for all their opponents in the last couple of seasons. The reason they dominate the format is their vast experience, achieved by fielding maximum India players. This season, they are playing with eight India players and dictating terms to their rivals.
On Thursday, Vidarbha women will face the star-studded Railways in the semifinal of senior women's T20 trophy.
1x1 polls
Though Vidarbha side is experienced, it is not as experienced as the Railways, who have won their last two T20 titles.
Once again, the onus of putting up a good fight will be on skipper Disha Kasat, who is the highest run-getter in the tournament with 287 runs, and pacer Komal Zanzad. They both have been the catalysts in Vidarbha's journey till the semis. Particularly in the knockouts, Komal and Disha both led from the front.
Now, in order to book a maiden final berth in the tournament, Vidarbha outfit needs to defeat the challenge that will be posed by India's key spinner and Railways skipper Poonam Yadav, and seven other India players including Mona Meshram, Sneh Rana, Sabbhineni Meghana, Dayalan Hemalatha, Arundathi Reddy, Nuzhat Parween, Swagatika Rath and Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
Vidarbha will want Komal, one of the country's senior-most left-arm pacer, to continue her form. Komal's spell with new ball against Maharashtra, that saw her giving away just 9 runs and taking two wickets in 4 overs, shook the rivals very early and they never recovered from it. A match before, Komal had taken 4 for 4 against Chandigarh.
