WPL: Openers, Jemimah Rodrigues steer Delhi Capitals home
The big difference in the match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday night was the stark contrast in the performance of the openers of the two teams.
Opening for Capitals, Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee gave their team a blazing start as they tore into the MI bowling attack.

Their 63-run opening partnership from 45 balls laid the platform for Capitals’ 155-run chase. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues capitalised on the start provided by the openers and hit an unbeaten 51 (37b; 5x4; 1x6), and along with Marizanne Kapp (10 not off 6 balls), secured a seven-wicket victory for her side over MI at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
The defeat meant that the remaining games have become a must-win for Harmanpreet Kaur’s side.
Earlier, after being put into bat MI lost their openers cheaply and relied on a third-wicket partnership of 78 between Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt's to post 154/5. Sciver-Brunt hit an unbeaten 65 (45b; 6x4; 2x6), her third half-century of the season, while Harmanpreet made 41 (33b; 7x4).
Scores: Mumbai Indians 154/5 (Nat Sciver Brunt 65*, Harmanpreet Kaur 41; Shree Charani 3/33) vs Delhi Capitals 155/3 in 19 overs (Jemimah Rodrigues 51, Lizelle Lee 46).
