KOLKATA: Sony Norde will play for
Mumbai City FC in the third edition of the Indian Super League, which will start later this year. The Haitian was part of the Mumbai City FC squad last year as well. "It's official. @sonynorde16 will be returning to Mumbai City FC for season 3 of the @IndSuperLeague! #MumbaiMeriJaan," Mumbai City FC wrote on their official Twitter account (@MumbaiCityFC).
There had been reports that Atletico de Kolkata, who were the champions in the first edition of the Indian Super League, were also interested in roping in the winger but Mumbai City FC have managed to strike a deal with the Haiti international player.
Sony Norde is surely one of the sought-after players and there is no doubt that securing his services will be a big boost and also bolster Mumbai City FC's squad. Sony has undoubtedly been the best and most influential foreigner in the I-League over the last two seasons. After playing a pivotal role in
Mohun Bagan clinching the I-League title in the 2014-15 season, Sony guided the green and maroons to Federation Cup triumph last month in Guwahati.
He then went on to play for the Haiti national team in the Copa America Centenario in the United States. Although Haiti lost all their matches in Group B, Sony put up a very good account of himself in the team's final group-league match against Ecuador on Monday morning (Indian time). He was the bright spot for Haiti in the 0-4 loss to Ecuador in the match.
