Manchester United, the Red Devils, is one of the world’s most legendary football clubs, and consists of players with the most variety of goals scored. From the post-war period to the dawn of the Premier League, some of the greatest strikers the game has ever known have pulled on the famous red strip. Cristiano Ronaldo is widely considered as one of the best players in the history of football, but that doesn’t mean he is among Manchester United’s all-time leading goalscorers as fans might have hoped.
Although he had two highly influential spells there, Ronaldo does not place within the top ten—proof, if it were ever needed, of both United’s rich history and the quality of competition the club has attracted.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s ranking explained
It’s the story of an exile from fame who couldn’t find a source of food when it got let back in. Having scored more than 900 goals in his club and national career, he’s rightly been celebrated as one of the football greats. But at Manchester United alone, his goal count ranks only 14th on the all-time scorers list— 145 goals in 346 games.
His fate was twice at Real, from 2003 until 2009, and he developed from a promising teenager into a Ballon d’Or winner, scoring 118 goals. His limited return in the 2021–2022 season saw him score another 27 goals.
Whilst this is an outstanding record by any measure, it does just about miss the top 10 due to the years played by some of the other players in their home shirts.

Europa League Final: Ruben Amorim says he will leave Manchester United for free if he is not wantedMany of the players above Ronaldo on the list spent more than 10 seasons with United. Many more years than him, in which to amass more goals. Wayne Rooney and Sir Bobby Charlton are the kind of players who have done it over the years, both in terms of goals and appearances.
The more telling point is that, even though he’s not forced his way into the top 10, Ronaldo’s impact at Manchester United extends beyond the numbers. They’ve come in high-stakes moments — in Champions League knockout ties and Premier League title races. His arrival provided a winning attitude and world-class fame, which raised the profile and performance of the club.
His 2021 comeback, although brief, reminded his fans of his world-class finishing ability. And even the present, Ronaldo, is an inspiration for United’s youth players.
In a club awash with legends, Ronaldo may not stand tall in terms of total figures, yet his trail of glory will be unforgettable in the hearts of United supporters worldwide.
