Real Madrid secured the top spot in La Liga with a 2-1 victory over Mallorca at home on Saturday night, while Atletico Madrid struggled in a 1-1 draw against Alaves. Real Madrid overcame an early deficit to claim victory through goals from Arda Guler and Vinicius Jr.Mallorca took a surprising lead in the 18th minute through Vedat Muriqi's goal against the run of play. Real Madrid responded with two quick goals, as Guler converted Dean Huijsen's knockdown in the 37th minute, followed by Vinicius Jr.'s low left-foot shot a minute later.

Despite Kylian Mbappe having two goals disallowed for offside and Guler seeing another effort ruled out for handball, Real Madrid maintained control with their narrow advantage.Atletico Madrid's poor start to the season continued as they drew 1-1 with Alaves. Giuliano Simeone gave Atletico an early lead in the seventh minute, but Carlos Vicente equalized from the penalty spot seven minutes later. The match saw a 15-minute interruption due to a medical emergency in the stands.Oviedo secured their first points since returning to the top flight with a 1-0 home victory against Real Sociedad, thanks to Leander Dendoncker's goal.
